Before diving into running and managing reports, it is important to understand how Intelligence is configured for your organization. This guide covers the key settings, access levels, and concepts that shape your reporting experience in Intelligence.

Reporting Roles & Access Levels

Your reporting role is assigned by your SAP Concur administrator and controls two things: which tools and features are available to you within Intelligence, and the scope of data you can see when you run a report. Understanding your role upfront helps set the right expectations for what you can do within the platform.

Role	What You Can Do
Cognos Consumer	Run and view standard reports only. Cannot modify or build reports.
Cognos Business Author	Run reports and use Query Studio to filter, sort, group, and create custom calculations. Can schedule reports. Cannot modify standard reports using the Report tool.
Cognos Professional Author	Full access, including building reports from scratch, joins, calculations, scheduling, and bursting.
BI Manager	Not a named-user license count, but an access mode. Grants managers the ability to run and schedule reports scoped to their direct and indirect reports, with unlimited assignments.

Feature Hierarchy

In addition to your Cognos role, your Feature Hierarchy assignment further controls the scope of data you can see — independent of which tools you have access to.
