Pending Transaction That Never Processed

I have a pending transaction that has never posted to my Amex. How do I get this off of the list of Available Expenses?

@lhanson click the little checkbox to the left, then the Delete option should activate. Click delete. That should do it.

Thank you,

Hi @lhanson

Topic: Pending Transaction(s) that never Processed

Please check the below. Hope this helps.

-----

If the pending American Express transaction never posted to your card account, you may be able to remove it from SAP Concur.

Steps to resolve:

  1. Log in to SAP Concur and navigate to Expense → Manage Expenses → Available Expenses.
  2. Locate the pending transaction.
  3. Select the checkbox next to the transaction.
  4. Click Delete and confirm, if the option is available.

Important: Before deleting, verify that the charge never posted to your Amex statement.

If the item is a Pending Card Transaction placeholder, it can generally be deleted.

However, if it is an actual card-feed transaction labeled Pending Transaction, or the Delete option is unavailable,

contact your company's Concur Expense Administrator to review it.

Deleting an item in Concur does not cancel an authorization or pending charge with American Express.

You generally cannot manually delete a pending transaction from American Express (Amex).

A pending transaction is an authorization that has not yet been finalized by the merchant.

Important: Removing a pending expense from SAP Concur does not remove it from your Amex account, and vice versa.

How to resolve it with Amex?

  1. Sign in to your American Express account and verify the charge is still pending.
  2. If the authorization remains pending: Contact the merchant and request an Authorization Reversal. If the merchant cannot release it, contact Amex using the number on the back of your card.
  3. If the Charge Posts: If the transaction posts incorrectly, initiate a dispute through Statements & Activity → Select Transaction → Dispute this Charge.

American Express confirms that pending transactions generally cannot be disputed until they post and merchants can initiate authorization reversals.

If the pending charge has already disappeared from Amex but remains in Concur Available Expenses, the next step is to investigate the Concur pending-transaction item—not attempt to delete anything from Amex.
