Error: * Action: You have modified the default mileage calculation above the preferred range.

can someone advise on this error message when submitting auto tracked mileage. it seems that the geo calculation is to the decimal point but the distance number cannot accept decimals. This is problematic in so many ways and is causing people to not use the automated tracking and use manual entry. is there a fix?

@fghi0905 when you say "auto-tracked" mileage, what does that mean exactly? Are these employees using Drive on the mobile app? I'm asking because since the system doesn't allow decimals in the Distance field, it should automatically round up or round down. Also, if the users are using Drive on the mobile app, it should enter a whole number automatically.

Can you provide the exact steps these users are taking, please? The error message implies that the users are changing the amount of distance from what the system is calculating. However, if the system is automatically rounding up or down and this is causing the error, then something in the rule that triggers this message is incorrect.

The more details you can provide, the better I can try to provide an answer.

Thank you,
Kevin

@KevinD This isn't an isolated issue every person using the Drive on mobile is experiencing this, including myself when trying to submit mileage that was tracked using the mobile. We are not changing anything on the mileage side but because decimal are not counted the error keep popping on and we have to manually round down in order to be able to submit.   Action: You have modified the default mileage calculation above the preferred range.

@fghi0905 I found the issue. There was an audit rule created to prevent users from changing the calculated milage by more than 10%. However, the rule was set incorrectly and says the mileage cannot be changed by more than .001, which is not 10%. I'm sending you the name of someone at your company who can edit the audit rules to make this change.

Hi @fghi0905 ,

In addition to Kevin's response, audit rule condition should be as shown below:

If this answers your query, then please mark solution as accepted.

Thanks!

@PoojaKumatkar their site has another audit rule for Canada that was set up correctly. I think someone just added a couple of zeroes by mistake. 🙂
