Unable to add car rental to existing trip, unable to finalize the trip

I was finally able to book the flight after many errors and "something went wrong" messages, but still can't book the needed vehicle rental to the trip.  It won't let me finalize the trip either.

@BellsBBQ did you ever get this resolved? 

Also, I wasn't clear on whether the flight actually was booked and confirmed because you said you weren't able to finalize the trip. I didn't think the flight would get booked if the trip wasn't finalized. 

When you tried to add the car, was it after the flight was completely booked or was it after you selected your flight and were taken to the Rental Car search results? 

Any details you can provide on the steps you took will help.
