I don't think this could be possible since most itemizing consists of more than one itemization line item. If you do your first line item, it wouldn't be for the full amount, therefore the remaining amount would not be zero and thus, it couldn't be saved, according to what you are proposing. So, all of your itemizing would require only one itemization line item for the full amount of the expense (to zero out the remaining balance) which has the same result as not itemzing at all.
