Receipt Attachments Opens Repeatedly

I am working on a Mac.  When I am working in the web interface (Firefox) and I click to attach a receipt to an expense, the receipt will open in two instances outside of the Concur website.  So if it is a pdf attachment then it opens in the pdf application or if it is a jpeg it opens in Preview. Then when I click to save the expense the attachment opens again. Why all the duplicate openings?

Note - when attaching the receipt I am not clicking on it to have it open. This is simply an attachment step.  I don't need to have the attachment opened up.

@SM_DClark I've had something similar happen. It is usually do to a browser setting that tells the browser to automatically open files of certain types. I think if you Google this, it will tell you the setting and how to turn it off. 🙂

Hi @SM_DClark ,

Try below browser settings: 

Change File Handling Settings:

1. Open Firefox
2. Go to Settings
3. Click General
4. Scroll to Files and Applications
5. Under Applications, look for:

• PDF
• JPEG
• PNG
• Image files

For each file type, change the action to:

• Save File
  OR
• Use Firefox (Preview in Firefox)

NOT:

“Open with Preview”

“Open with Adobe Acrobat”

“Always Ask” (can also cause repeated triggers)

For best behavior:

PDF → Open in Firefox

This prevents the Mac Preview app from launching at all.

I appreciate your detailed answer.  @KevinD also answered this without screenshots.  

The issue is that Firefox is behaving the way I want it to in any other instance.  When I click on a pdf file in Firefox through email I want it to open in my pdf application. 

It is the repetitive opening when attaching receipts in Concur in Firefox (opens at least two times) and then when I click the save button on the actual expense the attachment opens again!

I just tested this in Google Chrome and receipts do not open when attaching or saving so I am going to start using Concur in Chrome instead.
