Mileage Calculator - API

Hi All,

We are working on automating the personal car mileage expense calculations for our team.

Is it possible to use the API for the Mileage Calculator?

Edit for clarity:

Our team drives to different locations every day. Right now, we have to go through the process of:

Select Manual Expense > Personal Car Mileage > Mileage Calculator >  input location A > input Location B >select round-trip > Add mileage to expense. Then Add Transaction Date, and Purpose of Trip. Repeat 20+ times per month.

This process is very time consuming, and our team keeps growing. We want to automate it by using a file containing all of those fields.

Any examples or documentation are greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance!

@pmtriana I didn't see anything in our API documentation about mileage.

Doesn't the mileage calculator already use a Point A and Point B to give mileage? What would an API do that the calculator doesn't? Maybe I'm not clear on what you are asking. 🙂

Thank you,
Kevin

Hi Kevin, thanks for your response.

Let me explain with further detail what I'm trying to accomplish:

Our team drives to different locations every day. Right now, we have to go through the process of:

Select Manual Expense > Personal Car Mileage > input location A > input Location B >select round-trip > Add mileage to expense.

Add Transaction Date, and Purpose of Trip.

This process can be quite time-consuming, and our team keeps growing. I would like to leverage the API to automate that process, feeding a file with dates, locations A, B, and Purpose of Trip, for the whole month.  Would this be possible? any alternative solutions you can think of?

Thank you!

@pmtriana I don't think it is possible and in my opinion, wouldn't take any less time as the data you mentioned still needs to be entered into the file you would be feeding in.

Hi @pmtriana ,

You can go through below API information. Also, I agree with @KevinD that it is not feasible to do so with API.

Alternatively, as a workaround you can still use 'copy' functionality which can be used to create multiple mileage entry for every next day. This will copy your all data as is, including From and To location, amount, business purpose, expense type etc. with immediate next day transaction date.

You can also use 'Edit' functionality to edit multiple expense entries and setup common business purpose, From/To location, comments etc.

Hi @pmtriana

My organization is not using Concur Drive, but maybe you can take a look as it might help.

As an alternative, we allow employees who drive their personal car a lot (mainly sales people) to add all the trips on an excel sheet and attach it to the report (just like you would do with a receipt), adding only the total KMs (no need to use the calculator). It's not exactly what you're looking for but I think it's a good alternative that works for the users.
