Gemany e-invoicing external solution

Hello ,

Has any customer implemented automated validation of XRechnung/ZUGFeRD attachments within Concur Expense, and if yes, which external solution (SAP DRC, Pagero, Basware, OpenText, etc.) was integrated? I would like to understand the options and possible solutions.

@ZuziK from what I read, an external solution isn't needed as SAP Concur Expense supports German E-invoicing. Here are a couple of points of note:

  • ZUGFeRD — A hybrid format: a PDF with an embedded XML file. These can be emailed directly to [email protected] as attachments.
  • XRechnung — An XML-only standard. These must be converted to a visual format (PDF or JPEG) first; both the original XML and the visual file should be emailed to [email protected].

Hopefully this helps a little bit.

Thank you,
Kevin

Hello @KevinD , I am more interested in the validation e.g. if send e-invoice is having  correct  XML structure or if the attached invoice is real e-invoice or only regular invoice. Such solution does not exist directly in Expense Module. Due to I would like to know , if there is option integration with other tool/application which will validate the attached invoice . e.g. SAP DRC.

@ZuziK we do have our Native SAP DRC and there at least three apps in our App Center. I would recommend looking in the app center. I've also included some information about DRC and three apps that are third-party.

SAP Document and Reporting Compliance (DRC), Cloud Edition

This is SAP's recommended primary path for e-invoicing compliance with Concur. Source

  • Centralizes integration with tax authorities and business partners worldwide.
  • Integrates with both Concur Expense and Concur Invoice.
  • Supports Peppol Exchange — allowing Concur Invoice buyers to receive invoices directly from the Peppol network (provided both buyer and supplier are registered)
  • Automatically validates supplier invoices and expense receipts to reduce compliance risks.
  • Requires licensing the SAP Document Compliance BTP application, configuring a BTP sub-account, and then enabling it via the SAP Concur App Center.

neylux Doc Tax Compliance (nDTC) Connector

App Center Listing

  • Works with both Concur Expense and Concur Invoice.
  • Specifically supports XRechnung and ZUGFeRD integration in Concur Invoice for Germany.
  • Automatically extracts XML data via SAP Concur APIs, validates the e-invoice, and generates an expense entry.

eezi – Powered by VAT IT

App Center Listing

  • Works with Concur Invoice (Standard and Professional).
  • Acts as a bridge between global e-invoice senders and Concur Invoice, handling the handoff from e-invoice networks into SAP Concur.
  • Partnered with Consilio.io for SAP Concur-specific implementations

Staple AI

App Center Listing

  • Works with Concur Expense and Concur Invoice (Standard and Professional).
  • Supports Germany and multiple other European markets.

Hi  @ZuziK

Please check the below. Hope it helps.

For Germany's XRechnung and ZUGFeRD e-invoicing requirements, automated validation can be implemented through an external e-invoicing platform integrated with SAP Concur Expense.

Potential solutions include:

  1. SAP Document and Reporting Compliance (DRC) – Electronic invoice processing and compliance.

  2. Pagero (Thomson Reuters) – E-invoicing exchange and validation services.

  3. Basware – Invoice automation and compliance validation.

  4. OpenText – Invoice capture, validation, and document processing.

Recommended Architecture:

Concur Expense → Integration/API or document exchange → External validation platform → Validation results and exception handling.

The solution should validate XML structure, EN 16931 compliance, mandatory fields, and applicable business rules.

Important: These are potential integration options, not confirmed customer implementations or standard out-of-the-box Concur integrations. Specific integration capabilities and supported workflows must be verified with each vendor.

Recommendation: Evaluate SAP DRC first for an SAP-centric landscape, while comparing Pagero, Basware, and OpenText for document validation and integration capabilities.

Thanks & Regards
