Approval request disappeared

Hello,  I received an email to approve an expense for one of my associates. I was able to view it on 8/27 when the email arrived but when I go back now I show zero approvals are pending. It's unclear what happened to the request, and am I able to retrieve it somehow? I need to send it back to this associate for editing. Any other ideas on next steps? Thank you

I had this associate recall the request from her side. I was able to confirm that the email went to my leader, and perhaps this is why it was no longer in my pending approvals? But I saw something in Help section saying that the request should have remained in my queue also. Please advise.
