SAP Concur is updating its SFTP account management guidelines to reclaim inactive accounts, enhancing security and optimizing resource management. Accounts inactive for 24 months will be reclaimed starting January 1, 2026.

Overview

SFTP (Secure File Transfer Protocol) is used for securely transferring and managing files over a network. It provides encryption and authentication, making it ideal for sharing sensitive data between systems, automated file transfers, and secure backups. SAP Concur is implementing a new guideline designed to reclaim inactive SFTP accounts. This change aims to enhance security and optimize resource management by deactivating accounts, which were issued during initial account setup, that are no longer in use.

Why is this change occurring?

SFTP accounts that have been inactive for 24 months will be deactivated on a quarterly basis starting January 1st, 2026. Inactive accounts are defined as those that are assigned but never used or not used within the past 24 months.

What does this mean for me?

  • If your organization uses SFTP actively, you are not impacted by this change.
  • Organizations that do not use SFTP at all are not impacted.
  • This change only affects organizations with inactive SFTP accounts for 24 months or longer.
  • If your organization wishes to utilize the SFTP connection in the future, please create a Support case, and a Support Engineer will be available to assist you.

Timeline

Starting January 1 , 2026: Accounts that meet the criteria of 24 months of inactivity will be deactivated on a quarterly basis.
