Overview
SAP Concur is enhancing rail booking access within new Concur Travel by transitioning Renfe content from legacy Direct Connect integration to the Trainline aggregator. This update expands available rail options, improves cross-border connectivity, and aligns with our long-term rail strategy for a unified, future-ready travel experience.
What is changing?
- Renfe content will be migrated from legacy Direct Connect integration to the Trainline aggregator. A popular European aggregator, Trainline consolidates data from operators like SNCF, Deutsche Bahn, Renfe, and Trenitalia, enabling travelers to search and book cross-border train journeys seamlessly.
- Customers will gain access to additional Spanish and cross-border rail carriers via Trainline.
- Users can now compare fares, schedules and book from multiple rail operators directly within Concur Travel.
- The legacy Renfe Direct Connect will be decommissioned on August 30, 2026.
- Travel Management Companies (TMCs) will manage Trainline contracts and configurations to enable access.

This migration to Trainline supports our ongoing strategy to simplify and expand rail content access through a single, robust platform. By integrating with Trainline, customers benefit from:

- A modern, scalable infrastructure consistent with future travel booking workflows
What this means for you
- End-User Experience
- Existing Renfe bookings made through Direct Connect will remain visible under Upcoming Trips in Concur Travel.
- Historical Renfe booking data will continue to be available for reporting and reference.
- After decommissioning, users will no longer be able to make new Renfe bookings through Direct Connect.
- Travelers who need to book Renfe rail must use the new integration via Trainline.
- Administrator Actions
- No action is required if Renfe rail content is not needed after decommissioning of Direct Connect.
- If Renfe rail access is still required, administrators should work with their Travel Management Company (TMC) to enable and configure the new Renfe integration via Trainline in the Travel settings.
Timelines
- Available Now: Renfe rail content accessible via Trainline in SAP Concur.
- November 15, 2025: Expanded Trainline content available in new Concur Travel.
- August 30, 2026: Legacy Renfe Direct Connect fully decommissioned to maintain access to Renfe content.
