SAP Concur Expense is adding new standard fields to support GST (Goods and Services Tax) reclaim for India, enabling direct capture of required tax data for Input Tax Credit claims.

Overview

SAP Concur is launching foundational enhancements in Concur Expense to help customers with India operations reclaim GST. This update introduces standard fields for capturing tax data needed for compliance with Indian authorities, streamlining the GST reclaim process.

What is changing?

  • New standard fields:
    • Place of Supply: Captures the state/union territory where goods/services were received, using official CBIC codes.
    • Goods and Services: Captures HSN/SAC code from invoice/receipt for tax rate determination.
    • Company Tax ID: Captures the buyer’s GSTIN as shown on the invoice/receipt (not just company master data).
  • Existing fields (Invoice ID, Merchant Tax ID, Government Invoice ID) are now available for India
  • The fields are available for configuration in Forms & Fields Administration and can be used in audit rules for compliance checks.
  • All new fields are available in the Financial Integration Service (FIS) API.
  • Admins must enable and configure fields manually; they are not enabled by default. To enable and configure it, check the Release Notes or contact SAP Concur Support.

There are no breaking changes. If you currently use custom fields for India GST, you may continue to do so. Migration to the new standard fields is optional but recommended for easier configuration and future support.

Why is this change occurring?

This update addresses core compliance needs for India GST reclaim, making it easier for customers to capture required data, reduce manual work, and prepare for future automation and reporting enhancements.

Timelines

  • August 11th: Foundational GST Reclaim fields and provisioning in audit rules available in Concur Expense
  • Future Releases: ExpenseIt auto-extraction, QR code support, tax categories, and reporting enhancements.
