Canada is permanently eliminating Daylight Saving Time in British Columbia, Alberta, and Manitoba, effective November 1, 2026. Customers with employees in these provinces should update time zone settings in SAP Concur using the interim workarounds below until a permanent update is available, targeted for late November 2026.

Overview

Canada has legislated the permanent elimination of Daylight Saving Time (DST) in British Columbia, Alberta, and Manitoba, effective November 1, 2026. These three provinces will remain on fixed UTC offsets permanently, creating new time zone designations that are not yet available in SAP Concur's system. SAP Concur is planning to release the new time zones in late November 2026.

In the meantime, customers can update employee time zone settings using interim workarounds. Please note that SAP Concur will not automatically update any user or customer time zones — only users and customers are able to make this update within their systems or profiles.

What is changing?

Effective November 1, 2026, British Columbia, Alberta, and Manitoba will no longer observe Daylight Saving Time (DST) and will remain on fixed UTC offsets permanently. The new time zones for these provinces are not yet available in SAP Concur.

Until the update is available, customers with employees in the affected provinces can update those employees' time zone settings temporarily to one of these interim workarounds:

  • British Columbia → US / Arizona (UTC-7, permanently fixed)
  • Alberta → Canada / Saskatchewan (UTC-6, permanently fixed)
  • Manitoba → Eastern Time or Bogotá, Lima, Quito (both UTC-5) — customers may choose either option:
  • (GMT-05:00) Eastern Time (US & Canada) — note that this zone observes Daylight Saving Time (DST) and will shift to UTC-4 in March 2027. Customers who choose this option should plan to update to the permanent time zone before that date.
  • (GMT-05:00) Bogotá, Lima, Quito — permanently UTC-5 with no DST.

Why is this change occurring?

Canadian legislation has mandated the permanent elimination of Daylight Saving Time (DST) in British Columbia, Alberta, and Manitoba. SAP Concur is responding to this legislation to ensure time zone data remains accurate for customers in these provinces.
