Overview

SAP Concur is excited to announce the upcoming launch of AI-assisted travel search—an AI enhancement to the rail search widget in the new Concur Travel. This feature enables users to find rail stations even with misspellings, in multiple languages, or by entering city, country, or points of interest. The goal is to make rail booking faster, easier, and more intuitive for all travelers.

What is changing?

The new AI-assisted travel search replaces the legacy exact-match rail station lookup in the new Concur Travel Rail Search Widget. Previously, travelers needed to enter the exact station name, often in its native language, to find a result. With AI-assisted travel search, users can search using alternative spellings, translations, partial names, or natural language, making it easier to find the correct station on the first attempt. While the search experience remains visually unchanged, travelers now have greater flexibility in how they enter their search criteria. The AI-assisted travel search interprets a broader range of inputs, improving station discovery without changing the existing workflow:

  • Improved Search Input Processing: The search now includes misspelling and typo recognition, allowing users to retrieve accurate results even when station names are entered incorrectly.
  • Diacritic Tolerance: The search recognizes inputs that omit or incorrectly use special characters, such as umlauts or accented letters, and maps them to the correct official station name.
  • Compound Name Order Variation: The search accommodates variations in the word order of compound station names, ensuring accurate results regardless of the sequence in which the terms are entered.
  • Multilingual Input Recognition: Users can search in any SAP-supported language, ensuring consistency across all language inputs.
  • Exonym Resolution: The search resolves internationally recognized place names into their official local equivalents, ensuring that queries entered in foreign languages are correctly mapped to the appropriate station.
  • City and Country Search: Search by city or country and see the most relevant stations automatically.
  • Points of Interest: Search using any reference point (for example, "SAP Walldorf") and find the station most relevant to that destination, based on how travelers associate that place with a station.
  • Global Scope: All markets where new Concur Travel Rail Search is active is applicable for this change

Timelines

  • General Availability is planned for September 24, 2026.
  • No specific action, activation or opt-in is required from you. Starting that date, your travelers will automatically benefit from this new search capability when searching for rail.
