What are the benefits of Concur Travel

None of my company's employees book travel through Concur Travel. Rather, they make reservations on their own and attach receipts to their expense reports. Is there a problem with this? What is the benefit of encouraging or requiring users to book through Concur Travel? Does Concur track any possible credits and unused tickets? Are there any extra fees (or discounts) with using Concur travel instead of booking directly through an airline and hotel site?

Hi,

Using SAP Concur Travel to make reservations offers numerous benefits that enhance the overall travel experience. You can use travel policies to ensure that bookings comply with your guidelines. Through negotiated rates,  discounts, and preferred supplier agreements, you can optimize travel spend.

Concur Travel can be integrated with Concur Expense which allows travel bookings to be automatically populated into expense reports, reducing manual work, improving consistency, and helps in streamlining your reimbursement process. You can also make use of Concur Travel reports to gain insights into your spend, and identify areas for improvements.

Travelers can also make use of our Concur Mobile App to manage their bookings and make changes on the go. We also have TripIt app which provides real time updates and notifications for flight delays, gate changes and other important travel notification.

By using  SAP Concur Travel for reservations, organizations can enhance efficiency, control costs, enforce policy compliance, and improve the overall travel experience for all travelers.

Concur Travel doesn't track credits or unused tickets, however this data can be sent to Concur by Administrators where we can store this information in the User's profile in Concur Travel and share it with TMC's when reservations are created.

Concur Travel doesn't provide any discounts and there is no extra fees charged,

Can you provide more clarification on:

"Concur Travel doesn't track credits or unused tickets, however this data can be sent to Concur by Administrators where we can store this information in the User's profile in Concur Travel and share it with TMC's when reservations are created."

Would concur travel enable us to see tickets booked that were unused? Flights, hotels, rental cars?

Hi,

Every ticket created on SAP Concur Travel can be viewed through the Trip Library feature. Credits or Unused tickets are applied for flight tickets and SAP Concur travel doesn't track these tickets. Company Administrators has the ability to update the unused tickets information for every traveler in SAP Concur travel, for the Users this information will be readonly in their profile.

  • If you are aspiring to have a managed travel program, where the policy states all travel is to be booked through preferred channels (agency and Concur) then there is a big risk in this practice.
  • First and foremost, there is a duty of care perspective - there is no ability to track travelers should there be risk with their planned destination or disruption during the course of their travel.
  • If booking directly, how do you manage costs and unused ticket management?
  • Do you have contracts in place with air, car, hotel? If so, booking directly isn't necessarily tracked to your contract compliance targets.
  • Use of an OBT provides traveler compliance with policy and preferred suppliers; visual guilt (selectin the LLF is improved) and agency transaction fees are less.
  • for the employee the booking detail can be sent directly to Concur Expense, reducing the time to prepare and submit an expense report.

so many benefits and reasons to encourage, promote and require use of the managed processes outlined within the policy.

@rboparai8 hello there. First thing I need to know to better assist you is do you have an SAP Concur profile? Not the profile here on this Community site, but a username and password to sign in at: www.concursolutions.com? Let's start there. I'll await your reply.

Thank you,
