Our local TMC indicates that they currently use a separate system for booking domestic Japanese hotels. They use something called BT-online which apparently integrates with Rakuten. I understand that Rakuten is the equivalent of a "hotel GDS". Come to find out that Rakuten is a direct connect participant in the hotel options. Curious, if anyone has used this integration to Rakuten. I'd like to hear the good and the bad.
Currently we have been using the GDS hotels as the primary booking method and HRS as a backup.
We are thinking we will allow hotel booking through the GDS, HRS and Rakuten in our JP configuration.
