Meals Provided x Meals Available

Hello,

Can someone highlight me the difference between Meals Provided and Meals Available? I'm just looking into SAP Concur Rates for Travel Allowance and I am not able to explain this difference.

Thanks!

@jps I'm not sure on the Meals Available, so I posted the question internally to see if I can get an explanation.

Thank you,

Hi @jps ,

Those are not standard meal types, someone might have created those custom meal types under Travel allowance configuration to capture meal type wise different different rates. If you try to create travel allowance itinerary in expense report and try to select these 2 meal types then you will get different allowance rate if it is configured in that way.

To check the same, you can go to Travel Allowance Configuration >> Rate Bundles >> Open specific Configuration Set >> Click on Edit as shown below

Whatever meal types are created here, those will appear in TA wizard and if template have been downloaded then it will appear in downloaded template as well.

And the template which you have downloaded that must be from the Rate bundle as shown below:

If this answers your query, then please mark solution as accepted.

Thanks!

@jps I found out that this is specific to the U.S. Department of Defense. Here is the explanation of each:

  • Available meals are those offered in government dining facilities
  • Provided meals are those provided to the traveler for free by the government (not necessarily in a government dining facility, i.e., these could be provided as part of a training or conference at a hotel)

Thank you,
