How do I apply an unused ticket to an upcoming trip?

I had to change dates for an upcoming trip and was provided a credit for the ticket. When I went to re-book with new dates the only option was to use my credit card on file; the option to apply the credit wasn't an option. Is there a way during the booking process that the credit will be applied? I'd rather not pay for a trip twice. Any help is appreciated.

@zoey1182 were you booking on the same airline where you have the credit? If so, when you book the new flight, the credit should be automatically applied. 

If you have any doubt though, call your travel management company to ensure it is applied.
