Delta Airlines - Additional letters being added to name field

Hi!  I have a traveler that when he books Delta Airlines, his name is showing up with a bunch of extra letters in it.  Delta says that is how they are receiving his name in the reservation, yet, that's not his name appears in Concur.  Has anyone else run into this issue?

Hi  @jennyb0414

Topic: Delta Airlines - Additional letters being added to name field

Please see the below. Hope this helps.

A correct name in Concur does not guarantee that the transmitted passenger name is correct.

In SAP Concur Travel, extra letters appearing in a Traveler's Name on Delta reservations may indicate a name-formatting or Data-Mapping issue between

  1. SAP Concur – Profile Synchronization
  2. The Travel Agency's Booking System (GDS) - Formatting
  3.  Delta Airlines – Specific Name Processing

Airlines sometimes combine names without spaces due to Reservation-System Formatting.

This does not necessarily indicate an incorrect ticket.

Actions:

  1. Concur Traveler Profile: Verify the Traveler's First, Middle and Last Mames match their government-issued ID.
  2. GDS Name Field: Ask the TMC to inspect the Original Passenger Name element in the PNR.
  3. Travel Agency/GDS Profile: Ask the travel management company (TMC) to check the Passenger name transmitted in the reservation (PNR).
  4. Delta Reservation: Compare the name received by Delta with the original PNR.
  5. Delta SkyMiles Profile: Check whether the traveler's Delta profile contains different name information.
  6. Name Formatting: Check whether middle names, titles, or other fields are being concatenated.
  7. Booking Channel: Determine whether the issue occurs with Delta bookings through GDS, NDC, or both.
  8. Other Airlines: Test whether the same traveler experiences the issue with other airlines.
  9. Escalation: If the Concur profile is correct but the transmitted name is incorrect, raise a case with your TMC and SAP Concur Support.

Compare the name in Concur → GDS/PNR → Delta to identify where the extra characters originate. Avoid making repeated profile changes without identifying the source.

If the actual ticketed name is incorrect, have the TMC or Delta correct it before travel.

Identify where the extra characters first appear - Concur à TMC/GDS à Delta — before changing the traveler's profile.

Thanks & Regards
