start and end dates for job numbers

when we enter a new job number and approver, there is not start and end date associated with it.  is there something we are missing.  we want to prevent and employee from  being able to choose and old closed job number.

@abhiryder89 sounds like your Job Numbers are in a list that employees can choose from. To prevent them from choosing a closed or old job, it should be removed from the list. This would entail your site administrator updating the list to remove the closed jobs.
