CPI Integration (SAP Concur to SAP ByD)

Hi I'm familiar with the ICS native integration between SAP ByD and Concur but have not heard of CPI integration.  Is this a customisable cloud based integration solution ? and does it replace ICS ? I presume there needs to be a purchase of the API Connector through the Concur account manager as well ?
