Stolen Rental Car keys

Hello,

When I arrived at the hotel. I left my rental car keys on the counter and someone else picked them up and took them. Am i able to expense this?

You will likely have to check with your internal finance policy and with the car rental company to see if it mentions anything about theft. Personally, our policy would not cover stolen keys, but if the insurance purchased with the rental includes theft, you might be able to argue that it should be reimbursable if not covered 100% by the rental company.

@melissabamford this is definitely something only your company can answer. Hopefully you were still able to get around and the person who took the keys didn't steal the car as well.
