Mileage reimbursement best practices

We are reviewing our mileage reimbursement policy. Our policy states for employees traveling for a customer project to deduct the first 50 miles of the distance.  I am hoping to find out how other companies reimburse the sales team, remote employees or employees traveling for a customer project.  Does your company reimburse the entire mileage or do they deduct daily commute?

I've seen some companies deduct their users' commute distance, but then some employees don't think that is fair when they live farther from the office than most. I have also seen companies that reimburse the entire commute with no deductions. I think this makes it more fair and much easier. Everyone is reimbursed by the same standard of "you are reimbursed what you drive". 

Let's see what other say. I would also suggest posting this question in the Admin Group. You are much more likely to get responses there.
