Expenses Changing Cost centre default search from Text to Either

When setting up a List Management item you can only select Default search and Displays format as  Text or Code. But in the field for that selection in expenses form, there is a option for Either.

By allowing the Either to be set as default in the List Management screen,  End users could then search by either code or text without the need to change the search,  reducing input errors or the need to contact internal support to find the correct information

Hi @Keith77 ,

Your question is bit confusing for me. Not sure your Q is related to expenses search or list search option.

If you could provide a screenshot, then it would be helpful.

If my understanding is correct, then you are asking about expenses search option. By design, you cannot set up any search criteria such as (text/code/either) for expenses list. As configuration wise expense types is altogether different component where search criteria settings are not available.

Also, for expense type we usually create expense type with text/description and system automatically creates unique code in the backend which is not visible for the end user while creating expenses. Hence, user cannot search expense type with 'code/either' option while creating expenses. Technically it is not feasible.

Regarding list management, it is another configuration component where we can link lists to form field level and where you can set up search criteria for the individual list field. Also, at the time of creating lists in list management we need to add list items with code and description. Hence once you link list to any form field you can search with either 'text/code/either' option.

This is by design.

If this answers your query, then please mark solution as accepted.

Thanks!

Hi @Keith77 ,

List management screen format looks different. May I know which edition is this? Concur Professional or Standard Edition?

In professional edition, list management screen is different. There also we have text and code options only.

Regarding your question to have 'either' option in list management which is backend configuration. This is a restricted area used by administrators only where most of the cases they will do bulk upload list items or manually add it. They will rarely search any list item. Also if they want to search anything then as an administrator they will always have some code or text to search for with them.

However for the end user 'text/code/either' options are still visible as you shown in 1st screenshot bcz as a end user they might don't know the exact code or text of the item. So they can use either option in that case.

Hope you are getting my point.

Thanks!

Hi Pooja

Thank you for the reply.  I think what I am looking for is to add it in somewhere to Sap as a oversight of Form not matching list management setup. I raised with help desk who replied 'We would recommend submitting an Improvement Request for SAP Concur'. The link that I was then given only allowed me to setup up a account view improvement not add.  Regards  Keith
