ExpenseIT multi tax on receipt is not automatically recognize

Hello,

There is some enhancement plan on future release from SAP Concur regarding the automation of the tax itemization if multi-Taxes amounts appear?

We test and the OCR expenseIT does not recognize taxes.

We are deploying Concur for French companies, and they get Notilus that manage very well this automatic itemization.

I understand that it is plan on Roadmap.
Can you please give me more detail.

Thank you

Hi  @AlineMONTAIN

Please see the below. Hope this helps.

Enhancement Plan: A confirmed release date for this enhancement is not currently available.

Automation of the Tax itemization for Multi-Taxes:

SAP Concur introduced Multi-VAT Itemization Support for Germany in August 2025, including automatic VAT calculations and ExpenseIt extraction of net amounts for supported scenarios.

However, that feature is specifically scoped to Germany.

SAP Concur ExpenseIT_OCR does not recognize Taxes

Based on your screenshot, ExpenseIt recognizes the €30.00 receipt total but does not extract the

three French VAT rates (5.5%, 10%, and 20%) or their respective tax amounts.

This is an issue with the automatic multi-VAT extraction and not an OCR failure.

ExpenseIt's receipt recognition does not guarantee Automatic Tax Itemization across multiple VAT rates,

even when the receipt clearly displays the tax breakdown.

For now, ensure French VAT Tax Codes and itemization rules are correctly configured and

manually enter the separate VAT amounts wherever required.

Thanks & Regards

@AlineMONTAIN from your screenshot, I see a VAT Rates drop down. Can you click the drop down so I can see the choices, please? I would think that a VAT rates field would show possible percentages, not the VAT amounts. ExpenseIt doesn't have the capability of knowing your configured VAT Rates.

Thank you,
Kevin

I through that the French Tax recognition and itemization was now managed by Concur?

Hi @AlineMONTAIN ,

With reference to the below ExpenseIt Admin FAQ and support article, ExpenseIt does not currently support multi-VAT rates.

Title

Can ExpenseIt capture VAT number and/or tax amounts from the receipt?

Details

We would like to know what information ExpenseIt can capture from a receipt image.

Resolution/Answer

Currently, the fields that ExpenseIt (our OCR feature) can read are amount, currency, date, location, expense type, payment type and vendor. ExpenseIt is not able to capture VAT number or tax amounts.

Currently SAP Concur does not have the ability to read tax information from the receipt.
The tax information in an expense entry is taken from the initial values entered into the expense entry (Expense type, dates, country of transaction, amount.) The tax information is then pulled from the Tax tables that have been set up in your entity for the country.

An employee with the Tax Administrator role can view taxes by country by going to Administration > Expense > Tax Administration.

Hi  @AlineMONTAIN

In SAP Concur Expense, configuring French VAT rates correctly does not automatically enable ExpenseIt OCR to recognize and itemize multiple VAT rates from a receipt.

Correct VAT configuration does not necessarily mean ExpenseIt supports automatic multi-VAT extraction for France.

Check:

  1. Receipt Status: Tax Receipt identifies the receipt classification; it does not activate automatic VAT extraction.
  2. VAT Rates: Configured Tax Rates support Tax calculation and Validation, but does not guarantee OCR recognition.
  3. ExpenseIt: Automatic extraction of multiple French VAT rates depends on supported product functionality and not just tax configuration.

Your test suggests that the French Tax Configuration is working, but automatic multi-VAT itemization is not occurring.

Ask SAP to confirm whether Automatic Recognition and Itemization of multiple French VAT rates is supported in your edition.

Thanks & Regards
