Expense Commute Deduction

My Concur profile is correctly set as a "Mobile" worker, but the automatic "Deduct Commute" tool is calculating the wrong normal commute distance for my trips.

• The Policy: The Employee Business Expense Policy requires Mobile workers to deduct a standard 20 miles each way (40 miles roundtrip) for their normal commute.

• The Glitch: The system is currently deducting 30 miles each way vs 20. It appears to be calculating a physical distance to a default office location rather than my actual office location. 

• The Request: Please update the back-end configuration for my account so the commute calculator automatically defaults to the 20-mile each way deduction.

@JG893 hello there. We don't have access to any back-end configuration to update your account. 

You are correct that the system is calculating the commute from the address for your office location that is listed in your profile.  Could you check your profile to see if it shows your actual office address or another address, please? 

Let me know what you find and we'll go from there.

I just went ahead and updated the Work location to the correct one but the "deduct commute option" is still calculating based off the incorrect one (sleepy hollow NY)

@JG893 I went in to your expense report and started a new mileage expense. I can confirm that the Mileage Calculator is using your actual assigned office address for the commuting mileage. I even opened up Google Maps separately, entered your home address and the office address and had it map it. It did calculate the distance from your entered work address, not the Sleep Hollow address.

For the standard deduction, is that what your company has said no matter where employees live? If an employee only lives five miles from their office do they still have to deduct 40 roundtrip or are they allowed to enter 10 miles roundtrip for their commute?

The issue I see is that your company requires the mileage calculator and the Deduct Commute checkbox. They have to know that everyone's calculated commute will be different. If everyone is required to use a 40 mile roundtrip standard deduction, how are they supposed to get that calculated by the Deduct Commute checkbox when everyone's commute is different? This doesn't make sense to me. 

My suggestion would be to speak with your direct manager about this and explain the issue of needing to use the Deduct Commute, but also required to enter a standard deduction knowing these two distances will not be the same. 

Let me know what your manager says. Maybe I'm missing something obvious.
