Error when trying to duplicate an expense

daphnebarry_0-1774385389291.png

I just started seeing this error message when trying to duplicate an expense. Is this a new development? Is it widespread? I use the duplicate feature quite often.

Hi @KevinD , @daphnebarry ,

While investigating the issue, I attempted to duplicate a personal car mileage expense myself and observed the same system behavior.

I attempted the following steps:

  1. Duplicated an expense where mileage was calculated using the mileage calculator
  2. Duplicated an expense without using the mileage calculator
  3. Duplicated an expense after making all required fields optional
  4. Duplicated an expense both with and without attaching a receipt image. @ptraynor

Despite trying all of the above, I continued to encounter the same error: "There was an error duplicating your expense."

After extensive research into the possible causes online, I have identified the following points:

  • Mileage duplication is not fully supported in some configurations of Concur (especially newer UI versions).
  • Mileage entries behave differently because they depend on map and distance calculations, so duplication often fails even when other expense types work fine.
  • I came across the following support article, which indirectly confirms that the copy/duplicate functionality does not work for mileage expenses. While the article discusses copied reports, the outcome remains the same, as mileage is not calculated. In our scenario, the system instead displays an error message when attempting to duplicate the expense.

What to do for duplicating mileage expense:

  • Create new expense entry for mileage
  • Re-enter all the details and calculate route
  • Save expense

@KevinD - Could you please check internally with your team whether this is a limitation of the new UI version? I searched for supporting documentation or articles but was unable to find any. Clarifying this will help us confirm that our understanding and assumptions are correct.

@PoojaKumatkar and @daphnebarry I can confirm that mileage expenses cannot be duplicated. There is an issue with duplicating mileage expenses that is being looked into right now.

The article I took this from was posted to our Knowledge Base yesterday.

@daphnebarry looks like a bug to me, but could be something to do with the expense. Can you provide a larger screenshot so I can see the entire line item, please?

I am trying to duplicate a mileage expense in my own open expense sheet, and the same thing happens when I act as another user (my manager)

Several of us are also affected. One user was able to duplicate an expense that had a receipt. But most of the expenses we want to duplicate do not include receipts.

Just chiming in to share that I am experiencing this same error ("There was an error duplicating your expense.") with Vehicle Mileage entries specifically, regardless of whether the Mileage Calculator was used or not.  Never encountered any issues duplicating expenses over the years until this error first encountered yesterday, 03/24/2026. I tested duplicating other non-vehicle mileage expenses (e.g. Parking) and had no issue with those duplicating successfully. Thanks in advance to all who are looking into a resolution for this issue.

Also experiencing this issue now.   Not looking forward to creating these manually.
