Emails auto-forwarded getting rejected

Hi, I set up rules in Microsoft outlook to forward recurring receipts to receipts@concur.com. Concur is rejecting it (the message I get is "Your message wasn't delivered because the recipient's email provider rejected it.") It works if I forward manually.

Is there any way around this? I have so many receipts - this would have been a real time saver.

Hi @woodardsarah , thank you for reaching out on the Community.

The error message "Your message wasn't delivered because the recipient's email provider rejected it" typically occurs when forwarded emails fail authentication checks or are flagged as potential spam. This is a common issue with automated forwarding rules, as the email appears to originate from a different source than the original sender.

Potential solutions include:

  1. Check your email provider's forwarding policies - Some email providers block automatic forwarding to external domains for security reasons.
  2. Configure SPF records - If your organization controls the email domain, ensure proper Sender Policy Framework (SPF) configuration to authenticate forwarded emails.
  3. Use direct email submission - Instead of forwarding, consider having receipt senders email directly to the Concur receipt address.
  4. Contact your IT administrator - They may need to allowlist the Concur email domain or adjust security settings.

I hope this helps but if you have any additional questions, please let us know!

Thanks, I will check with IT. With respect to your third suggestion, that wouldn't work, would it? Since the sender's email has to be verified with Concur?

@woodardsarah thanks for the follow-up question - let me clarify.... by "receipt senders" I mean the user, so in this case that would be you and you would have a verified email address in Concur, yes. Option 3 is basically having the user just send or forward the receipt manually without using the automated rule (which I know is not your preference 😊). Does that make sense?

Ah yes. That function is working fine but the automation would be a huge help if we can figure it out.  Thanks.
