Joule Teams Intergration

We are considering adding the Base Joule to our platform. As we see there are some unknowns still and we are monitoring other companies implementation and going from there. One thing I cannot find a clear information on is how does Concur SAP Joule integrate with Teams? We do not use COncur Travel (we use Egencia) so I know it will not work for that, but how does it intergrate and what would the benefit be (using Joule for expense only) by intergrating Joule with Teams?

Lastly, any insight as to when you can use Joule within the Expensit or within the Concur app?

Thank you!!

@KimE I'm going to have a colleague of mine comment. He knows a lot about Joule and what it can do.

@bstarks could you weigh in here, please?

Thank you,

Thanks for the questions.
I do want to point out that Joule is more than 1 thing.  It is both embedded technology that makes our products better/smarter and it is also a conversational/chat user experience.  For example ExpenseIt is already powered by Joule with our embedded Receipt Analysis Agent that can predict values from context about the transaction and the expense report even if they are not actually printed on the receipt.  We can predict the city of purchase even if its not on the image of the receipt because Joule embedded AI is performing Agentic reasoning and look ups with more context than ExpenseIt has ever had.

The Joule conversational/chat interface and features can be extended and used outside of the Concur application because of how this conversational interface is built and set up.  Joule conversational/chat is technically a separate application than Concur with its own set of users.  Those users are matched to Concur profiles via IAS (Identity Authentication Services) so that when the user is typing with Joule, it will know who they are within Concur and their permissions.

All of that is to explain how Joule works within Teams.  Because of the IAS when the user invokes Joule from S/4 Hanna or from Teams or MS 365 Copilot and asks it what is the T&E policy for meal spend in Dallas it will know that the Joule user is this specific Concur user and should receive the answer related to employee meal limits from the Australia addendum not the US addendum.  There are multiple ways in which Concur and Joule can be integrated with Teams and is created this way because every customer is on their own AI journey and may not have every element needed.

We have a Concur to Teams integration that will allow you to have a Teams chat with Concur and ask for things like the last 5 expense reports submitted or expense reports pending approval and get that list in a response from Concur to the Teams chat.  This is available if you dont have and AI products from either Concur or Microsoft.  Meaning this does not require Joule.

We also have a connector for Joule to be added as an app that can be added to Teams.  On the left side of your Teams window you will see the tabs for notifications chats calendar and at the bottom a plus sign for adding more apps.  One of the apps is called SAP Joule.  This allows you to have a chat window in Teams and use the Joule conversational/chat capabilities from Teams.  Similar use cases are available for all of Joule base like create new expense report or add attendees are available.  If you have Joule Premium then expense use cases like validate the expense report is ready for submission can be invoked via this Teams chat.  This is for customers that have Joule on the Concur side but may not have MS 365 Copilot on the Microsoft side.

For those customers that have gone all in on AI... First thank you.  They will have Joule on the Concur side and MS 365 Copilot on the Microsoft side.  In which case you can connect the Joule interface with the Microsoft interface for bidirectional communication.  All of the Joule conversational/chat abilities work wherever MS 365 Copilot can be opened like Powerpoint or Outlook or Teams.  What it can also do is Joule can answer questions in Concur related to MS 365.  For example you Joule could answer what the last email was from your boss related to your upcoming trip while you are in Concur booking it.

The abilities of Joule base can be provided but anything that is conversational can be done with the Joule conversational/chat interface anywhere Joule is present which includes the entire SAP Suite of products, Teams, and MS 365 Copilot.  Teams and MS 365 Copilot can be found on those respective mobile apps as well.

The Concur mobile app will be updated to include Joule for those customers that have Joule installed in Q3 according to the current product roadmap.

I dont have the ability to share links and documents but I have given them to Kevin to load for me that explain more about the set up and capability.

Thank you,
Brad
